TV and 16:9 Monitor Dimensions
A screen's advertised size is its diagonal, not its width. A TV and a monitor with the same diagonal and 16:9 aspect ratio have the same screen dimensions. Their bezels, stands, and overall footprints can still be very different.
Screen width and height: inches and centimeters
Both measurement systems describe the same screen. These approximate dimensions cover the visible 16:9 panel, excluding the frame and stand.

Will a 24-, 27-, or 32-inch monitor fit my desk?
Compare panel width first, then check the manufacturer's full width and stand depth. Measure usable desk space after allowing for speakers, a second screen, and your keyboard. A monitor arm can free desk space, but its mount, load rating, and clearance must suit the specific monitor.
For two monitors, add their complete chassis widths rather than their diagonals. Angling them changes the footprint; a paper outline of each stand is more useful than screen dimensions alone.

No. A 21:9, 32:9, or 16:10 display has a different shape. Do not use a 16:9 size page to estimate an ultrawide monitor, even when the diagonal matches. For curved screens, check the manufacturer's external dimensions and depth.
How are screen dimensions calculated?
For a 16:9 panel, width = diagonal × 16 ÷ √337 and height = diagonal × 9 ÷ √337. Use the same unit throughout. Multiply inches by 2.54 to get centimeters, or divide centimeters by 2.54 to get inches.
Will a TV fit on my stand or wall?
Screen width is only the starting point. Check the complete TV width, height with stand, leg spacing, weight, and the manufacturer's ventilation requirements. For wall mounting, verify the VESA pattern, bracket capacity, and cable access. There is no universal clearance that works for every model.
